A routine traffic stop on Highway 65 in Arkansas County led to the arrest of a man wanted for first-degree murder in Kansas, according to the Arkansas State Police.

On February 24, 2026, ASP troopers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling along Highway 65, a major corridor that runs through the DeWitt area. During the stop, troopers identified the driver as Joshua Pourciau, 29, who had active warrants for murder out of the state of Kansas.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Ruger 9mm handgun along with suspected narcotics. Pourciau was taken into custody without incident and is being held pending extradition proceedings.

Highway 65 is a heavily traveled route through the Arkansas Delta region, connecting Pine Bluff to the north with communities in Arkansas County and points south. The arrest highlights the ongoing work of state law enforcement in maintaining safety on Arkansas roadways.
